"Scrubber." This repair involved removing
several pieces of "interference" piping and
components, replacing the air pump using new gaskets and
seals, and testing prior to reinstalling the
"interference."
Planner: (2 years
experience)
Researched and wrote detailed component repair proceedures
from multiple sourse documents, such as, blue prints, technical
manuals and standar repair proceedures; for use in repairing and
modifying critical submarine and surface ship systems to ensure
all components continue to meet strict quality assurance
standards.
- Researched and wrote over 150 Controlled Work Packages
for work on naval surface ships and submarines.
- Researched and wrote a work package for the complete
overhaul of a submarine shaft seal. This $500,000
overhaul was performed without need for rework or any
form of cost overrun which was normal for the
extensiveness and complexity of this repair.
- Researched and developed a cost estimate and plan for
converting a formerly unused training room into an
on-site laundry facility. This estimate and plan was used
to install the facility at a cost of $100,000 in
materials, equipment, and manhours.
- Was selected as "Petty Officer of the Quarter"
for the Repair Department three quarters in a row.
Lead Planner: (1 year
experience)
Supervised and coordinated 15 planners researching and writing
controlled work packages, including assigning personnel to
perform on site and off site inspections of the jobs to be done.
Also established and maintained good raport with each repair work
center supervisor to ensure accurate and timely communications
between the planners and the actual maitainence personnel.
Production Supervisor: (1
year experience)
Supervised and coordinated the efforts of both the Planners
and Technical Librarians in providing excellent and timely
services to the Repair Department work centers performing mission
critical maintainence and upgrades to both naval surface ships
and submarines.
- Coordinated the efforts of 7 different work
centers and developed a cost estimate for converting
unused freight boats into passenger boats, on-site versus
contracting the work out. The estimate revealed that our
organization would save $100,000 per boat if the work was
contracted out.
Counselor: (3 years
experience)
Provided individual and group couseling to personnel in
substance abuse treatment, including developing and presenting
workshops, developing and assigning individual treatment plans,

finally determining the after care follow-up treatment for each
indivual.
- Developed, implemented, and maintained a new Patient
Information Database, using Microsoft Access 4.3, for use
by our staff to eliminate redundant forms and saving over
50 manhours per patient typically spent gathering,
maintaining, and organizing this information.
- Developed and presented several creative and fun
workshops to be used during substance abuse patient
treatment. These worshops received very positive reviews
by the patients and staff alike.
- Rewrote the Substance Abuse Questionaire from a 200
question document filled with redundant and outdated
questions to a 50 question questionaire that allowed more
analytical information to be gathered and greatly reduced
the strain on personnel completing it.
- Designed, implemented and maintained a website for our
facility that provided greater outreach to the
surrounding community and served to answer many questions
that were commonly asked via phonecalls.
